Unbelievable scenes in Moto2 as Deniz Öncü snatched victory from Diogo Moreira by three thousandths of a second. Yes, you read that right—it was as close as it gets!

The Moto2 race was about to start, with 19 laps ahead and separating the potential winner from victory and glory in Aragón.

Diogo Moreira made the most of his pole position and was in the lead in the early stages, but it was Deniz Oncu who took the lead during the first lap, after two very punishing corners for Moreira, who was also overtaken by Barry Baltus.

Shortly afterwards, Baltus took the lead in the race, with the top five now as follows: Baltus, Oncu, Moreira, Arón Canet, and Alonso López.

Canet was gaining momentum and had meanwhile reached third position in the race, and would later overtake Oncu to move into second. The difference between #44 and Baltus was approximately 0.3s.

During the eighth lap, Oncu retaliated and beat Canet, who was overtaken by Moreira a couple of laps later. Baltus remained firmly in the lead.

Gradually, Oncu’s pace began to bring him closer to Baltus, and so it was no surprise that at the start of the 13th lap he managed to take the lead. Manu González, the championship leader, after a disastrous qualifying session where he crashed and failed to set a time, was already in eighth place.

The race was quickly approaching its final laps, with Deniz Öncü leading by 0.695s over Moreira, who had just set the fastest lap of the race and briefly overtaken Öncü.

Despite the Brazilian’s speed, Öncü refused to back down and regained some time on #10—but only briefly, as the Italtrans Racing Team rider reduced the gap once again to six-tenths of a second.

Meanwhile, Agius overtook Canet to claim fourth place, while Rueda’s struggles reshaped the championship battle.

Moreira was giving it everything, and the gap to Öncü kept shrinking—after the first two sectors of lap 18, it was down to just 0.261s. The Brazilian was all-in!

The final lap was set to deliver high drama, with Moreira and Öncü battling all the way to the checkered flag. Proof of the intensity? Moreira was half a second faster than Öncü on the last lap!

Moreira completed the overtake and pushed hard, navigating the final corners at full intensity!

Side by side, the Turkish rider fought back, making contact with Moreira—an impossible-to-script ending! The victory, decided in a near photo-finish, belonged to Öncü! What an incredible race!
