Miguel Oliveira finds himself in a precarious position at Pramac Yamaha for 2026, following the public announcement of Toprak Razgatlıoğlu’s arrival to the team. The Portuguese rider admitted ‘there’s no guarantee’ about his continuity, despite having a valid contract, in a situation that depends entirely on the Japanese manufacturer’s decision.

When questioned about recent contract news, Oliveira was clear about his lack of knowledge: ‘No. Look, for now, the situation with Toprak became public. And I am aware of my situation, but at the same time, I’m also aware of my value as a rider, of course, and where my place is, and that is in MotoGP’. The Almada-born rider showed determination to prove his worth on track, emphasising that now is the time to ‘go out on track and twist the throttle a little bit and see how it goes’.

Regarding the possibility of being the team’s second rider, Oliveira didn’t hide the uncertainty: ‘But there is, let’s say, there’s no guarantee. No. That’s all it is, and it’s up to Yamaha’s decision’. This statement reveals the fragility of his position, even with a valid contract with the Japanese manufacturer’s satellite structure.
