Deniz Öncü topped the second free practice session of the Moto2 British GP this morning – held in improving track conditions following early rain.
Unlike Moto3 minutes earlier, the session was declared dry, although many riders completed only a few laps during the 30-minute session.
Zonta van den Goorbergh (RW-Idrofoglia Racing GP/Kalex) led the opening quarter of an hour, but several riders took turns at the top as lap times steadily improved with the track becoming more favourable.
Near the end, Öncü (Red Bull KTM Ajo/Kalex) set the fastest lap of the session with a time of 2m05.220s. This put him 0.430s ahead of Manuel González (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP/Kalex).
In third, already over a second behind, was Jake Dixon (Elf Marc VDS/Kalex), with the top five completed by Arón Canet (Fantic Racing Lino Sonego/Kalex) and Iván Ortola (QJMotor-Frinsa-MSi/Boscoscuro).
