Simply fantastic! The Moto2 race whetted the appetite for the British GP, with Senna Agius taking victory at Silverstone!

The first “real” race of the day was about to get underway, with the Moto2 class starting the British GP, in a GP with a slightly different organization than usual.

Arón Canet started from pole position, ahead of Manuel González and Diogo Moreira, while the second row consisted of David Alonso, Senna Agius and Marcos Ramírez.

Manu González had a bad start and immediately lost a lot of positions, as he leads the world championship in the category. Izan Guevara, meanwhile, was in good form and quickly moved up to third. On the first lap Moreira took the lead, but only for a short time, with Guevara coming out on top and following him. Manu González was in a distant 11th place.

Canet would eventually regain the lead of the race, while leader González was on an upward trend, already in eighth.

Moreira ended up taking the lead on the third lap, but Canet responded: the difference between the two was minimal and the fight was immense.

The start of the fourth lap brought bad news for González who, in the first sector of the lap, crashed at turn 4: he lost control of his bike and, after touching Barry Baltus, the #7 was also affected. They both ended up dropping out of the race, with the incident being analyzed by the race director later on.

Canet led by 0.139s over Moreira, Guevara was third and 0.410 behind the Brazilian, while Alonso was fourth and Agius made up the top five at this stage of the race.

Agius’ pace was strong and after seven laps he was already on the podium, with Guevara in fifth place.

Alonso would eventually regain the position but the race was at a frantic pace with the top five separated by less than 1s.

During the 11th lap of the GP Moreira took the lead again, but Canet soon found his way down the inside to quickly take the lead once more. Uncertainty until the end at Silverstone, guaranteed.

The race continued at a good pace, with the front-runners always very close together, with the top four, above all, more than ever!

With four laps to go, Alonso and Moreira were battling for second place and swapping positions, with Moreira taking the lead for the time being.

A couple of laps later Agius was third and Alonso second, with Moreira in fourth a little further back, while the front duo seemed to gain time.

This was it! It was all or nothing on the last lap and once again with the front-runners, the trio, super close, with the uncertainty being absolute!

On the last sector of the last lap Alonso hit Canet, but Agius made the most of the fight between the front-runners to unexpectedly move into the lead himself! Canet and Moreira went slightly wide and the Australian didn’t hesitate and took the win!!!
