Pramac Yamaha arrives at the Italian Grand Prix with new parts and fresh paint, but also with rising internal pressure. Jack Miller and Miguel Oliveira are not only racing for results this weekend — they may also be in direct competition for the team’s second seat in 2026, alongside confirmed star Toprak Razgatlıoğlu.

The team confirmed both riders will receive an upgraded engine, revised aerodynamics, updated electronics, and tailored setups. The aim is to fix long-standing issues with tyre degradation and corner-exit grip — but the significance of the upgrades goes beyond mere performance gains.

Recent tests in Aragón and Barcelona gave both riders a chance to try the new package. Miller said, “We tested several new upgrades we plan to use this weekend.” Oliveira added, “We’re getting stronger every race, and I’m very motivated to show our progress here.”

Mugello is a fitting crucible for such a contest: technical, fast, and unforgiving. Oliveira’s best result at the track was P2 in 2021 with KTM, while Miller’s best is P6. With Toprak already signed for next season, the outcome of this weekend could weigh heavily in the final decision on who stays.

While the Prima livery will give the bikes a special look, for Miller and Oliveira the priority is not style — it’s survival. The battle for a future in MotoGP’s top satellite team starts now, under the Tuscan sun.

And anyone who thinks that Oliveira having an “advantage” over Miller from a contractual point of view could actually be decisive is mistaken, as Paolo Pavesio warned that both riders would be under close scrutiny until the summer break!

Miguel Oliveira finds himself in a precarious position at Pramac Yamaha for 2026, following the public announcement of Toprak Razgatlıoğlu’s arrival to the team. The Portuguese rider admitted ‘there’s no guarantee’ about his continuity, despite having a valid contract, in a situation that depends entirely on the Japanese manufacturer’s decision.

When questioned about recent contract news, Oliveira was clear about his lack of knowledge: ‘No. Look, for now, the situation with Toprak became public. And I am aware of my situation, but at the same time, I’m also aware of my value as a rider, of course, and where my place is, and that is in MotoGP’. The Almada-born rider showed determination to prove his worth on track, emphasising that now is the time to ‘go out on track and twist the throttle a little bit and see how it goes’.

Regarding the possibility of being the team’s second rider, Oliveira didn’t hide the uncertainty: ‘But there is, let’s say, there’s no guarantee. No. That’s all it is, and it’s up to Yamaha’s decision’. This statement reveals the fragility of his position, even with a valid contract with the Japanese manufacturer’s satellite structure.

Oliveira’s situation illustrates the unpredictable nature of modern MotoGP, where contracts may not guarantee secure seats. The Portuguese rider prefers to focus on his track performance rather than engage in contractual discussions, maintaining a professional stance amid the uncertainty surrounding his future in motorcycling’s premier category.

Francesco Bagnaia approaches the Italian Grand Prix with high expectations, seeking to defend the supremacy conquered in the last three years at Mugello. The Italian rider from Ducati Lenovo Team, currently third in the championship with 140 points, arrives home motivated by his return to the podium in Aragón and the intensive work developed in the post-race test. ‘Pecco’ has special reasons to be optimistic, considering his recent record at a track where he feels particularly comfortable and where he can count on unconditional support from Italian fans.

‘I can’t wait to get on track, not only because I’ve been very fast and competitive here in recent years but also because the cheering and the atmosphere will be special’, declared Bagnaia, anticipating the unique energy that characterizes the Mugello weekend. The Turin rider recognizes the importance of the home factor in a sport where details make the difference, and the additional motivation resulting from racing in front of his own countrymen could be determining for the final result.

Bagnaia’s passion for Mugello shows through how he describes the Tuscan circuit’s unique characteristics. ‘Mugello is one of the most beautiful tracks in the world, it will take your breath away. Some parts of the track and sequences of corners are impressive’, explained the Italian.

The work developed by the team has been intensive, with particular focus on recovering the competitiveness demonstrated in previous Mugello victories. ‘We are working hard, we were back on the podium, it was crucial for the whole team, and we will leave no stone unturned here’, stated Bagnaia. The return to the podium in Aragón represented an important turning point for the two-time world champion, who now seeks to build on that foundation to recover ground in the title fight.

Bagnaia’s determination to defend his territory is evident in how he approaches this challenge. With three consecutive victories at Mugello (2022, 2023 and 2024), the Italian rider carries the responsibility and pressure of maintaining the winning tradition, but also the confidence of someone who deeply knows the track’s secrets. The combination between experience, motivation and fan support creates ideal conditions for another memorable performance from the reigning champion.ENGLISH)

Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. announced today at the Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello the signing of Andrea Dovizioso to a three-year agreement extending until 2027. The Italian rider, a MotoGP Hall of Famer, will simultaneously take on the roles of test rider and rider performance advisor, as part of Yamaha’s strategy to accelerate the development of its MotoGP machine and enhance communication between riders and engineers.

Dovizioso will participate in private testing sessions outside the Grand Prix calendar, directly contributing to Yamaha’s prototype development. Additionally, he will occupy the newly created position of Rider Performance Advisor, designed to strengthen communication channels between riders and engineers by supporting Yamaha’s four MotoGP riders in analyzing and conveying performance data.

The experienced Italian rider expressed satisfaction with this new challenge:

– I’m really happy to officially announce this new connection with Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. I know it represents an important step in a relationship built on mutual trust and respect. I feel completely comfortable in the role we’ve defined together with Yamaha, aimed at maximizing my contribution to this important project.’ Dovizioso emphasized that he sees himself as ‘a key link between the various players involved in the development process.

MotoGP and music come together in Mugello with a color scheme inspired by Italian singer’s album “Alaska Baby”. Franco Morbidelli and Fabio Di Giannantonio will race on Sunday with the exclusive “Cremonini Live 25” design.

The Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team unveils a special livery dedicated to singer Cesare Cremonini for the MotoGP Italian Grand Prix, taking place this Sunday at Mugello. The light purple and blue hues, inspired by the artist’s latest album “Alaska Baby”, were brought to life on the Ducati Desmosedici GP bikes through the creativity of Aldo Drudi—turning the machines into high-speed northern lights. This collaboration between motorsports and music stems from the long-time friendship between Cremonini, Valentino Rossi, and Alessio Salucci.

Team owner Valentino Rossi shared the origins of the special partnership: ‘We’ve known Cesare for twenty years and have become closer friends with each passing year. That’s how the idea of merging music and MotoGP came about, with the special ‘Cremonini Live 25’ livery for the Italian GP. Along with Aldo Drudi, we started working on how to bring the visuals of his latest album to a MotoGP bike, and it wasn’t easy. But in the end, we pulled off a great result with Aldo and in my opinion, the bike looks amazing’. Rossi expressed particular excitement about the final result and seeing the bike at the concert.

Throughout this unique weekend, the traditional fluorescent colors of the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team will give way to this exclusive design. The technical team will also sport matching gear, including limited edition Kappa polo shirts, Refrigiwear vests, and custom Oakley sunglasses—all in the same shades as the livery. This project goes beyond the racetrack, building a bridge between two artistic worlds united by a passion for speed and emotion.

The initiative takes on even more meaning thanks to a timely coincidence: while Cremonini performs at the Dall’Ara Stadium in Bologna on June 19 and 20, a Ducati decked out in the special livery will be present on stage during the concerts. This synergy between MotoGP and music not only honors the singer’s tour but also celebrates the enduring friendship among the key figures of this unique project on the international sports stage.

Pramac Yamaha is arriving at Mugello with a host of technical and visual updates. Riders Miguel Oliveira and Jack Miller will debut a heavily upgraded YZR-M1 and a commemorative livery marking the 10th anniversary of title sponsor Prima.

Team boss Gino Borsoi explained: ‘The private Barcelona test went very well, so we head into the Italian GP with some updates that could help us be more competitive. Perhaps not so much in qualifying, where there’s still work to do, but in race pace, where we’ve found something that, on paper, should allow us to stay closer to the front’.

The upgrades include a refined inline-four engine, new aerodynamics, updated electronics, and specific setup adjustments. The main focus is tyre management over race distance and improved corner-exit acceleration — two areas where Yamaha has struggled.

Miller highlighted the occasion’s importance: ‘I’m really happy to be heading back to Italy for the team’s home race — it’s a very important one for us. Mugello is such an iconic place that we all look forward to every year. We’re coming off some good testing in Aragon and Montmeló, and the bikes will also look even more beautiful with the new livery’.

Oliveira, meanwhile, is upbeat after a tough run: ‘After these recent days on the bike, I’m feeling great heading into Mugello and confident that we can take another important step forward in terms of performance. While it’s a home race for many, it feels like one for me as well, since I’ve been living in Italy for several years. Riding the Yamaha at Mugello adds an extra dose of happiness. We’re getting stronger every race, and I’m very motivated to perform well this weekend’.

The Italian Grand Prix kicks off this weekend at Mugello, with all eyes on Francesco Bagnaia. The Ducati star is targeting a fourth consecutive win at his home race — a feat unmatched in the modern MotoGP era. After winning in 2022, 2023, and 2024, plus both Sprint races in those years, Bagnaia could equal Valentino Rossi’s legendary streak of seven victories at the Tuscan venue.

Ducati arrives at Mugello riding a wave of dominance, currently holding a 74-race podium streak. One more this weekend would set a new all-time record at 75. The Italian factory has won the last three Italian GPs, claiming a stunning 1-2-3-4 finish in both 2023 and 2024 — an extraordinary achievement in premier class history.

Yet, the competition is heating up. Marc Márquez, now racing with the factory Ducati team, could clinch his 93rd Grand Prix win — appropriately at the Italian GP, his 93rd race start across all classes. Márquez has one win and two additional podiums at Mugello, and a victory here would reignite his title aspirations while challenging Bagnaia directly.

Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo, the 2021 Mugello winner, hopes to bounce back despite recent struggles. He finished second in 2022, proving he remains a contender at this track. Aprilia and KTM are still searching for their maiden MotoGP win at Mugello, with riders like Aleix Espargaró and Pedro Acosta pushing to break that ceiling.

Meanwhile, rising stars could steal the spotlight. If rookie Fermin Aldeguer wins on Sunday, he’ll become the second-youngest MotoGP race winner in history — behind only Márquez. With six riders chasing a maiden win, the 2025 Italian GP promises drama, milestones, and potential surprises.

Marc Márquez prepares for a historic moment in his career as he rides a factory Ducati for the first time at Mugello, in front of thousands of Italian fans. The Spanish rider, MotoGP championship leader with 233 points, arrives at the Italian Grand Prix in an excellent phase of the season, following an almost perfect performance in Aragón. This will be a unique opportunity for the eight-time world champion to showcase his talent at one of the calendar’s most emblematic tracks, wearing Ducati Lenovo Team’s red colors for the first time on Italian soil.

‘It will be my first time at Mugello with the Ducati Lenovo Team colors. It will certainly be a great feeling to get on the track in front of all the Ducatisti’, declared Márquez, highlighting this moment’s emotional importance. The Cervera rider recognizes the special significance of representing the Italian brand on its territory, at a track where Ducati fans constitute a true legion. This combination between the Spaniard’s talent and the tifosi’s passion promises to create a unique atmosphere throughout the weekend.

Márquez’s technical analysis of the Tuscan circuit reveals optimism about his Desmosedici GP’s characteristics. ‘The Mugello track, thanks to its layout and long straight, is capable of bringing out the best performances of the Desmosedici GP’, explained the rider. This observation underlines how the Italian machine’s aerodynamic and power qualities perfectly suit Mugello’s layout, where high speeds and late braking are fundamental for success.

The championship leader keeps his feet on the ground, acknowledging that repeating the excellence demonstrated in Aragón won’t be an easy task. ‘It will be a busy week, also in terms of events, but we can do well. We come from a practically perfect GP, it won’t be easy to repeat ourselves here, many will be strong, but we can fight, we are in a good shape’, analyzed Márquez. This balanced mentality demonstrates the rider’s maturity, understanding each circuit’s specific demands and the category’s extreme competitiveness.

‘We can fight, we are in good shape’, concluded Márquez, summarizing the team’s confidence to face one of the season’s major challenges. With only one victory at Mugello in the premier class, achieved in 2014, the Spaniard has extra motivation to add another triumph to his record at a track that promises to highlight Ducati’s qualities. The combination between Márquez’s experience and the Italian machine’s potential creates high expectations for a weekend that could be decisive in the championship.

Takaaki Nakagami will make his debut as a factory Honda HRC Castrol rider in Mugello, stepping in for the recovering Luca Marini. The Japanese rider brings experience, behind-the-scenes work and ambition.

With Luca Marini still recovering from injury, Honda has called in their test rider to take over the factory seat. Nakagami, who previously raced as a wildcard in Le Mans, will now compete under full race conditions at the Tuscan circuit.

‘First, I want to wish Luca all the best with his recovery. It’s a pleasure, an honour, to join the factory Honda HRC Castrol team – thank you to Honda HRC for opportunity. The Test Team and I have been working hard in Japan for the future but this weekend the focus will be a little bit different. I have enjoyed riding Mugello in the past and have gotten some strong results as well. Let’s see what we can do and how we can help the team during the Italian GP,’ said Nakagami.

The Japanese rider has been an active contributor to the RC213V’s development, logging many test kilometres and providing crucial feedback. Now, he’ll get to put that work into action in a race setting.

His fifth-place finish in 2019 remains his best result at the Italian circuit. This factory debut could mark a new chapter in Nakagami’s MotoGP journey.

Trackhouse MotoGP heads to Mugello with high expectations. The Italian Grand Prix, at the home of their partner Aprilia, is not only a technical challenge but also a symbolic event in the team’s calendar. For team principal Davide Brivio, the weekend could mark a turning point in the season.

‘We are going to Mugello, of course, one of the classic MotoGP rounds and one of the most passion filled,’ said Brivio. The unique atmosphere of the Tuscan circuit makes it a special occasion where the team hopes to continue building momentum.

Brivio expressed satisfaction with Raúl Fernández’s recent form. ‘It is a kind of mixed feeling – we come from some good races with Raúl where he found a better pace, a good rhythm and especially after the Monday test in Aragon, we also had the possibility to test new items and work a little bit on the setting.’

On Ai Ogura’s situation, Brivio remained cautious. ‘Then of course, we need to understand about Ai. He is going to have the last medical check on Thursday at the track and then we will know whether he will be able to race or not. We know that if he will be able to race, he probably won’t be at 100%, but it will be very important to get back on the bike, restart and keep up the pace.’

‘Let’s hope Ai will be with us and with Raúl we are looking forward to using everything we learned at the test,’ he concluded. Mugello, with its intensity and tradition, offers the ideal setting for Trackhouse to showcase its evolution.
