Will Power secures his 71st pole position at the World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway, marking a historic milestone for Team Penske with their 700th pole. Power showcased his dominance by achieving a remarkable two-lap average speed of 180.329 miles per hour, leaving his competitors trailing behind.

Teammate Scott McLaughlin also impressed, coming in second with a speed of 179.783 mph. This achievement comes at a crucial time for Power, who is currently fifth in the championship standings, trailing the leader by 136 points. With the season heating up, Power is determined to clinch a victory to boost his standing in the championship race.

The pole position victory not only solidifies Power’s position as a force to be reckoned with but also raises questions about his future with Team Penske. As the driver approaches the end of his contract, securing wins and championship contention becomes imperative for his continued partnership with the team.
