Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. has officially announced that World Superbike (WorldSBK) superstar Toprak Razgatlıoğlu will return to the Yamaha family in the 2026 season, making his highly anticipated debut in the premier class of MotoGP with the Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP Team. This strategic move, confirmed today, ends months of speculation and marks a significant chapter for both the Turkish rider and Yamaha.

Razgatlıoğlu, a two-time WorldSBK Champion (winning titles with Yamaha in 2021 and with BMW in 2024), is widely considered one of the most exciting talents in motorcycle racing. After a stellar stint in the FIM Superbike World Championship from 2018 to 2025, where he has accumulated 63 victories so far, becoming the second most victorious rider of all time in WorldSBK history, the 28-year-old Turkish rider is ready to embrace the ultimate challenge of MotoGP.

His transition to the factory-supported Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP Team, a collaborative effort between Yamaha and Pramac, is a key strategic decision. Yamaha views this partnership as crucial for bringing Razgatlıoğlu’s unique talent to the pinnacle of motorcycle racing. Paolo Pavesio, Managing Director of Yamaha Motor Racing, expressed his excitement, stating, “We are thrilled to welcome Toprak back into the Yamaha family. Toprak, the most victorious Yamaha rider of all time in Superbike, has proven to be an exceptional talent.” Pavesio highlighted Razgatlıoğlu’s “fighting spirit and determination” as a perfect fit for both the team and Yamaha’s ambitious MotoGP strategy.

The move also comes at a pivotal time for Yamaha and Pramac. Pramac Racing, which secured the Independent Team title from 2021-2024 and even the MotoGP Rider World Championship in 2024 with Jorge Martin, became Yamaha’s ‘second factory team’ in 2025. This setup ensures that Razgatlıoğlu will have access to identical factory-spec machinery as Yamaha’s other factory riders, signaling Yamaha’s strong commitment to returning to the forefront of MotoGP.

Further details regarding the complete 2026 line-up of the Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP Team will be communicated in due course. Razgatlıoğlu’s move is a clear indication of his long-held ambition to compete in MotoGP on competitive machinery, and his return to Yamaha sets the stage for a compelling new challenge in his illustrious career.

Magnificent! Marc Márquez takes it all in Aragon and proves why he is the King of Motorland, being the first in every session he was part of, leading the Aragon GP main race from the first moment until the end!

Marc Márquez was inevitably the big favourite and has been at the front of every session so far this weekend: he took pole position and won the Sprint yesterday. He was joined on the front row by Álex Márquez and Franco Morbidelli, with Francesco Bagnaia on the second row, ahead of Pedro Acosta and Brad Binder.

Marc had a strong start, taking the lead, but the standout was Pecco Bagnaia, who quickly climbed to third, while Morbidelli dropped to seventh.

At the start of the second lap, Acosta overtook Bagnaia, but the Italian responded, reclaiming third place. Later in the same lap, Acosta attacked again and temporarily took third, only to be overtaken once more.

The battle between Bagnaia and Acosta was fierce, with Bagnaia maintaining the upper hand for now, while Marc led the race by 0.4s over Álex.

After six laps, the top ten stood as follows: Marc Márquez, Álex Márquez, Bagnaia, Acosta, Binder, Morbidelli, Fermín Aldeguer, Fabio Di Giannantonio, Fabio Quartararo, Joan Mir.

Marc was pushing hard and had already extended his lead to 1.108s over Álex, while Mir overtook Quartararo to move into ninth, making him the best Honda rider. Aprilia was struggling, with Raúl Fernández as its best representative in 14th, just ahead of Marco Bezzecchi.

Quartararo was emblematic of Yamaha’s struggles, falling to 11th after being overtaken by Maverick Viñales, moments before Johann Zarco crashed.

While Marc had built nearly a two-second lead over Álex, Bagnaia was attacking and closing in on the Gresini rider, trailing by just 0.334s—setting the stage for an exciting battle in the next few laps.

Bad luck struck Brad Binder, who was running fifth when he lost control of his bike at Turn 3. Meanwhile, Marc continued his dominance, setting the fastest ever race lap at Aragón with a blistering 1:46.879s on lap 11.

Binder wasn’t the only rider to go down—soon after, Quartararo also crashed, ending his race.

With ten laps remaining, the top ten were shaping up as follows:

An interesting battle was taking place between Morbidelli and Aldeguer, with the Italian getting the better of the local rider, with both forcing each other to overtake each other time and again.

With four laps to go, Viñales was also struggling and crashing.

And the fight between Morbidelli and Aldeguer didn’t stop there, with the two fighting once again, and touching each other, and with the same outcome!

The race ended a little after with Márquez taking another win. Unstoppable!

Unbelievable scenes in Moto2 as Deniz Öncü snatched victory from Diogo Moreira by three thousandths of a second. Yes, you read that right—it was as close as it gets!

The Moto2 race was about to start, with 19 laps ahead and separating the potential winner from victory and glory in Aragón.

Diogo Moreira made the most of his pole position and was in the lead in the early stages, but it was Deniz Oncu who took the lead during the first lap, after two very punishing corners for Moreira, who was also overtaken by Barry Baltus.

Daniel Holgado, meanwhile, collided with his teammate David Alonso, and both crashed during the first lap. Disaster for the CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team:

Shortly afterwards, Baltus took the lead in the race, with the top five now as follows: Baltus, Oncu, Moreira, Arón Canet, and Alonso López.

Canet was gaining momentum and had meanwhile reached third position in the race, and would later overtake Oncu to move into second. The difference between #44 and Baltus was approximately 0.3s.

During the eighth lap, Oncu retaliated and beat Canet, who was overtaken by Moreira a couple of laps later. Baltus remained firmly in the lead.

Gradually, Oncu’s pace began to bring him closer to Baltus, and so it was no surprise that at the start of the 13th lap he managed to take the lead. Manu González, the championship leader, after a disastrous qualifying session where he crashed and failed to set a time, was already in eighth place.

The race was quickly approaching its final laps, with Deniz Öncü leading by 0.695s over Moreira, who had just set the fastest lap of the race and briefly overtaken Öncü.

Despite the Brazilian’s speed, Öncü refused to back down and regained some time on #10—but only briefly, as the Italtrans Racing Team rider reduced the gap once again to six-tenths of a second.

Meanwhile, Agius overtook Canet to claim fourth place, while Rueda’s struggles reshaped the championship battle.

Moreira was giving it everything, and the gap to Öncü kept shrinking—after the first two sectors of lap 18, it was down to just 0.261s. The Brazilian was all-in!

The final lap was set to deliver high drama, with Moreira and Öncü battling all the way to the checkered flag. Proof of the intensity? Moreira was half a second faster than Öncü on the last lap!

Moreira completed the overtake and pushed hard, navigating the final corners at full intensity!

Side by side, the Turkish rider fought back, making contact with Moreira—an impossible-to-script ending! The victory, decided in a near photo-finish, belonged to Öncü! What an incredible race!

Marc Márquez didn’t have the best possible start at the Sprint race at Aragon, but yet again showed why he is just better on this track, taking another win on Saturday!

Everything is set for the first race of the weekend, with Marc Márquez starting as the big favorite and leading the championship by 24 points over his brother Álex, who also lines up on the front row for the Grand Prix, just moments away from starting. Franco Morbidelli, fourth in the standings, secured the third spot on the front row.

The race start did not go particularly well for Marc, who dropped to fourth from pole. Álex took the lead ahead of Morbidelli. Aldeguer moved into fourth after Marc overtook him, with Pedro Acosta in fifth and Fabio Quartararo in sixth ahead of Pecco Bagnaia.

On the second lap, Marc continued to climb the positions and reached second place, while Bagnaia was moving in the opposite direction, now in eighth behind Di Giannantonio.

Joan Mir was out of the race after getting involved in an incident with Jack Miller, which is now under investigation.

The race was unfolding at a rapid pace, with Álex leading by 0.616s over his brother and rival. Bagnaia continued to drop down the order, now in 12th, and soon slipped to 13th.

By the halfway point, after gradually closing the gap, a change at the front was confirmed—Marc Márquez overtook Álex and took the lead for the first time.

Miller received a penalty for irresponsible riding in the incident involving Mir and quickly served his sanction.

Meanwhile, Bezzecchi was making steady progress after a tough qualifying session, where he crashed early. Rising from 20th, he had already climbed to ninth and into the points.

The medium tire on the rear was starting to prove stronger, and proof of this was Aldeguer, who beat Morbidelli and thus reached the podium places:

Márquez was in command and only a disaster would prevent him from winning again, maintaining an unstoppable trend in Aragón from the very beginning.

With the last lap underway it was just a matter of time until adding another victory, which was confirmed moments after!

There we go as expected, but in great! Marc Márquez took the pole position for the Aragon GP, after «letting» the opposition dream briefly, «only» to take another pole position, with a time no one has ever had in Aragon!

The first fast lap saw Marc Márquez immediately displaying his magic on track, making it clear what his intentions were at MotorLand with a time of 1:45.986s. Álex was 0.437s behind, Brad Binder was third, Pedro Acosta fourth, and Johann Zarco fifth.

#73 improved but was still not at the level of the championship leader, trailing by 0.221s, while Acosta was also gaining momentum, having one of his best rounds of the year so far in terms of sessions.

Midway through the session, Pecco Bagnaia found himself in a tough spot, sitting in 11th place behind Fermín Aldeguer and Joan Mir. Only Di Gia, who had just gone out on track, was behind #63.

On his return, Bagnaia had dropped to last place behind Di Gia but was improving with red sectors, potentially securing a front-row start—but just barely. The Italian clocked the fourth-fastest time, finishing 0.019s behind Acosta.

Then Álex Márquez stepped up and beat his brother’s time. The Gresini rider set a lap of 1:45.964s, with Franco Morbidelli also surpassing #93 with a lap of 1:45.984s. In an instant, Marc was third, but he wasted no time and was already fighting back.

And there it was, no surprise, with Márquez getting back on «his throne», as he became the first once again, in 1:45.704s, and in style as he breaks the all time lap record! No words to describe what the #93 is doing!

It is becoming somewhat embarrassing for the competition in Aragon as Marc Márquez continues to shine bright at Motorland, having secured again the first position on the spaniard track

After having dominated the competition in FP1 at the MotoGP in Aragón, the question remained: would anyone be able to dethrone Marc Márquez at MotorLand? The first serious session of the day in the premier category was about to conclude.

After the first fast laps, Maverick Viñales was leading with 1:48.724s, a 0.264s gap to Pecco Bagnaia, while Pedro Acosta was third.

Bagnaia then took the lead by 0.093s over the Spanish Tech3/KTM rider, with both now inside the 1:47 range. Marco Bezzecchi soon climbed to second place with a lap of 1:47.862s, just 0.019s behind leader Bagnaia, while Marc Márquez was third, Viñales fourth, and Acosta fifth. Joan Mir, in 10th, held the last provisional Q2 spot, ahead of Fabio Quartararo.

Bezzecchi briefly held the session lead, but soon the fearsome Márquez rose to the top with a benchmark 1:47.370s on his seventh lap, in a phase where many riders were already returning to the pits.

With 33 minutes left in the session, here was the Top 12 ranking:

Marc Márquez remained solid at the front and improved further. On his 12th lap, the Spanish rider from Ducati Lenovo Team completed a lap in 1:47.212s, leaving Bezzecchi 0.430s behind.

Shortly after, #93 confirmed the fastest time once again, now setting a lap of 1:47.117s and extending his lead over Bezzecchi to 0.525s.

Meanwhile, Quartararo managed to avoid crashing on two occasions.

Acosta then improved, taking the KTM RC16 to second place with a lap of 1:47.551s before all riders returned to the team garages.

Upon re-entering the track, changes were expected, and that was exactly what happened as lap times dropped. Leading the way, Marc Márquez set a lap of 1:46.397s, and despite KTM’s improvements with Binder and Acosta, it was #37 who got closest to #93, still trailing by 0.761s.

Álex Márquez then made a considerable improvement, climbing to third place, while Franco Morbidelli moved up to fourth.

The Gresini rider continued to improve, moving up to second place but remaining behind his brother by 0.510s. Further back, Bagnaia was in tenth, with his provisional Q2 spot at risk for now.

Bagnaia didn’t want to stay back and forced his way to sixth, and Brad Binder was tenth, in front of Johann Zarco, but the south african improved, with two minutes to go and reached third. Raúl Fernández was the «new» tenth. All Yamaha were out of the Q2, for now.

Then came Mir to third, but the positions continued to change.

In the end the session was done and dusted, with the Márquez’s brothers to stand out again, and, not new, with Marc on top!

The competition must be scared, or might be after seeing the way Marc Márquez got on track this friday morning in Aragon, showing no mercy and winning the session by a lot! The closest rival was almost 1s behind.

The weather was good in Aragon and conditions were perfect for MotoGP to take to the track.

After three laps, Marc Márquez was one of the early leaders of the session with a time of 1:49.190s, 0.141s ahead of Joan Mir.

Pedro Acosta then briefly took the lead but was overtaken by Marc Márquez, again. The best time for #93 was now 1:47.665s, more than 1s ahead of Acosta.

Shortly afterwards, many riders made a brief stop in their respective teams’ garages, including the leader Márquez, who had in his brother Álex his most direct pursuer 0.423s behind, after 1:48.088s on the #73’s seventh lap. Pecco Bagnaia was third.

With the return and the session almost halfway through, Marc Márquez was on fire and with the sectors in red, threatening to set the best lap of the session so far, improving on his own time, something that was confirmed after completing a lap of the Aragon circuit in 1:47.205s.

Acosta improved again and beat Bagnaia, moving up to third position in the timesheets with 1:48.449s.

Marco Bezzecchi in fifth was the best Aprilia rider, Jack Miller the best Yamaha in sixth, Mir the best Honda in eighth. Mir would lose that status shortly after, as Johann Zarco moved into the top five with a lap of 1:48.488s.

With less than 15 minutes to go, Marc Márquez was back on form, attacking and with sectors in the red again, which is why, unsurprisingly, he was the first to break into the 46s… before anyone else had even broken into the 47s! 1:46.974 was the time set by the Ducati Lenovo Team rider, who was once again more than 1s ahead of the second fastest on the track, which in this case was still Álex Márquez.

Shortly afterwards, Mir went on the attack and moved up to third, ahead of Bezzecchi who, in fourth, had also improved his time considerably.

Fabio Quartararo was struggling on a circuit he is not particularly fond of. With 12 minutes of the session remaining, he was in 12th place, behind Aldeguer and ahead of Franco Morbidelli.

Álex Márquez managed to improve his time but remained far behind his brother, 1.083s behind.

The final minutes looked promising and Rins quickly moved up to third, but was beaten shortly after by Maverick Viñales, while Marc Márquez was again… with red sectors…

The eight-time world champion had a less successful third sector and lost time, but he was still much faster than anyone else, although he was unable to improve his time. His teammate Bagnaia was… eighth.

Marc Márquez confirmed the result, looking like it was a walk in the park as he ended as follow:

MotoGP arrives in Aragon with chaos still reigning supreme. Five different winners in the last five races, three different manufacturers winning in that time, and no signs of a clear favourite. Championship leader Marc Márquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) is heading to a circuit where he’s historically dominant, but this year, nothing is certain.

Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing) triumphed in Silverstone from 11th on the grid, and Aprilia now chases a historic second win in a row. Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) was unlucky to suffer a technical DNF in the UK, despite his third pole in a row. He now returns to a circuit where he’s had front row starts but never a podium.

Johann Zarco (CASTROL Honda LCR) is on fire with a win and second place in the last two races, now just a point off fourth in the standings. The Marquez brothers hold P1 and P2 overall, with Marc ahead of Alex (BK8 Gresini Racing) by 24 points.

Independent Ducati riders like Franco Morbidelli and Fabio Di Giannantonio are also showing form. Rookie Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) is closing in on his third top six in a row, and fellow Murcian Fermin Aldeguer is set for his MotoGP debut at Aragon.

Names like Jack Miller, Joan Mir, Miguel Oliveira and Alex Rins come with points to prove. Luca Marini, however, is sidelined with injury. It all sets the stage for yet another thrilling, unpredictable weekend in this wild 2025 season.

Speculation surrounding Toprak Razgatlioglu’s long-anticipated move to MotoGP reached new heights this week, as his manager Kenan Sofuoglu confirmed that a contract has been signed — and all signs point to a debut with the Prima Pramac Yamaha team in 2026.

Although no formal announcement has been made by Yamaha or Dorna, multiple insider sources suggest that the official confirmation will come during the Italian Grand Prix at Mugello (June 20–22, 2025).

🗣 Kenan Sofuoglu Hints at Deal

Speaking to Turkish outlet Motoetkinlik, Sofuoglu gave the strongest indication yet that the deal is done:

“We’ve spoken with five manufacturers across MotoGP and World Superbike. We’ve signed a contract that will satisfy everyone,” he said.

These comments strongly align with reports that Toprak will join Pramac Yamaha with a full factory-spec bike — the same machinery used by Fabio Quartararo in the Monster Energy Yamaha team.

🔄 Who Will He Replace?

According to the current paddock chatter, Razgatlioglu is expected to replace either Jack Miller or Miguel Oliveira at Pramac, and will be allowed to bring personal sponsors, including Red Bull, a long-time backer of the Turkish superstar.

🔥 Ducati Eyes Razgatlioglu Too

Even Ducati sporting director Davide Tardozzi has expressed admiration for the two-time World Superbike champion, stating:

“I’m a fan of Toprak — he knows that. He could fight for the top six in MotoGP. But I don’t think he can arrive and win immediately.”

Tardozzi was cautious in his expectations, noting that MotoGP requires adaptation even for elite talent, but he remains optimistic about Toprak’s readiness.

“There’s a stopwatch. It’ll tell you whether he’s too old or not,” Tardozzi said in reference to the 28-year-old’s age. “Toprak is in excellent physical and mental condition. He still has several years to compete at the highest level.”

🏍 Why the Move Now?

After years of speculation and several test sessions on Yamaha MotoGP machinery, Razgatlioglu’s jump from WSBK to MotoGP seemed a matter of when, not if. However, the missing piece had always been the assurance of a factory-level machine. That guarantee appears to have arrived in the form of a works-spec YZR-M1 at Pramac — finally giving the Turkish ace the equipment he needs to make the leap.

📅 What’s Next?

If all goes according to plan, Toprak Razgatlioglu will be officially unveiled as a 2026 MotoGP rider at Mugello in late June. His potential arrival will inject fresh star power into the grid and add another name to the growing list of World Superbike graduates taking on MotoGP’s elite.

The wait may finally be over. MotoGP is on the verge of welcoming one of WorldSBK’s biggest talents. All that’s left is the announcement. 🏁🇹🇷

French rider Fabio Quartararo did not hide his frustration and determination in a recent interview with Pol Espargaró on DAZN’s “Pol Position” show. With three consecutive pole positions but failing to convert them into victories, the former world champion made it clear that his future with the Japanese brand depends on the results of the coming years.

‘I strongly believe in this project, but if it doesn’t work, I will leave for one that is already competitive,’ Quartararo stated categorically, quoted on Motosan. ‘This is very clear, I don’t have time anymore, I want to go somewhere where the bike is competitive from the start.’

The 2024 season has been marked by ups and downs for the Frenchman, who secured three consecutive pole positions in Jerez, Le Mans, and Silverstone but failed to translate these prime positions into victories. Quartararo explained that his approach changed since Qatar: ‘Really, since Qatar, we have tried not to make too many changes to the bike. In the first three races, we were looking for something we didn’t have.’

The rider also revealed details about Yamaha’s technical development, mentioning that ‘in the Misano tests, we didn’t test any engine. We tested it in Jerez, and we will test another one after Aragón.’ This phased development strategy reflects the Japanese brand’s caution in implementing changes.

Despite the difficulties, Quartararo remains optimistic about Yamaha’s project, particularly aiming for the 2027 regulations. However, he issued a warning: if the project does not succeed, he will not hesitate to seek alternatives that allow him to return to the top of the competition.
