Haiden Deegan secured the AMA Supercross 250SX championship in dramatic fashion by winning the Denver round after a controversial move on race leader Cole Davies.
Davies had taken the holeshot and led early, followed by Michael Mosiman and Deegan. Julien Beaumer had a poor start but worked his way to sixth quickly.
Deegan caught and passed Mosiman, then began hunting down Davies. Despite intense pressure, Davies held firm until Deegan made an aggressive inside move late in the race, forcing Davies off track and dropping him to fifth.
Beaumer and Marchbanks took advantage, finishing second and third respectively, with Jordon Smith fourth. Davies, despite being punted off, salvaged fifth place.
The result gave Deegan the final points needed to clinch the championship.
