High drama and a nail-biting finish mark the conclusion of the 250SX East/West Showdown in Salt Lake City.

The 250SX East/West Showdown finale in Salt Lake City was nothing short of chaotic. Haiden Deegan rocketed out of the gate for the holeshot, with Tom Vialle and Seth Hammaker in tow. RJ Hampshire, hampered by a poor gate pick from the LCQ, started deep in the field but mounted a furious charge through the pack.

In no time, Hampshire was inside the top seven, and within five minutes, he had climbed to fifth and was closing fast. Up front, Beaumer overtook Hammaker and then chased down Vialle, eventually slipping past him with a calculated pass. Hammaker followed suit, putting him in position to claim the championship.

But drama struck again. Hampshire tripled past Vialle, then targeted Hammaker. Hammaker briefly reclaimed second from Beaumer, but Beaumer returned the favour with a forceful pass. Soon after, Hampshire attempted a block pass on Hammaker but ended up taking both riders down, shuffling the standings dramatically and handing the title lead back to Vialle.

With the white flag waving, Hammaker needed to close a two-second gap to Vialle but couldn’t gain enough through the whoops, missing his last real shot.

Deegan won the race, followed by Beaumer, Vialle, Hammaker, and Michael Mosiman. The third-place finish was enough for Tom Vialle to secure the 250SX East Division Championship in a heart-pounding conclusion.

A dramatic AMA Supercross 450 finale at Rice-Eccles Stadium concludes with Sexton’s dominance and Webb’s championship victory.

The 2024 AMA Supercross 450SX finale in Salt Lake City delivered a high-intensity race from start to finish. Aaron Plessinger secured the holeshot, closely followed by Cooper Webb and Chase Sexton. Webb wasted no time taking the lead on lap one, but Sexton wasn’t going to let him go that easily.

Riding smart, Sexton closed the gap and eventually executed a clean pass by jumping ahead in a rhythm section and guarding the inside line on exit. From there, Sexton stretched a comfortable lead, never looking back.

Webb maintained second for much of the race, with Justin Cooper behind. Cooper, fully aware of the championship stakes, chose not to pressure Webb. Shane McElrath looked promising early on but went down mid-race.

Malcolm Stewart came alive late in the race, overtaking Cooper with an aggressive inside move. He then chased down Webb and passed him after the whoops, costing both riders momentum over the following triple. Cooper seized the opportunity and passed Webb as well.

Despite finishing fourth, Cooper Webb had more than enough points to secure his third Monster Energy AMA Supercross 450SX title. Chase Sexton took the win, followed by Stewart, Cooper, Webb, and Joey Savatgy.

Chase Sexton, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider, secured his sixth victory of the 2025 AMA Supercross Championship season in Denver, closing to within just nine points of the 450SX class lead with only one round remaining in the series. The 2023 champion demonstrated all his talent at the Empower Field at Mile High.

‘I was pretty fired up from the first lap of the Main Event after we all got a bit close during the first rhythm lane’, confessed Sexton about his performance. The American rider quickly set his pace on the Denver track, where he secured the fastest qualifying time, clearing the field by over one second.

A convincing Heat Race victory set up the number 4 in an excellent position for the Main Event, where he wasted no time in getting to the front. ‘At that point, I just wanted to get to the lead, and I knew that I could run some good laps, so getting out front and breaking away was my goal’, explained the KTM rider, who ended up winning with an impressive 10-second advantage.

Referring to the battle with his title rival, Sexton did not hide the intensity of the moment: ‘I made an aggressive move by my standards on [Cooper Webb], but we’re both going for a championship and have a lot of respect for each other’. This savory victory allowed the KTM 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION rider to capture valuable points towards his championship aspirations.

Despite the rivalry, the American highlighted the climate of respect that exists between the two riders fighting for the title: ‘At the same time, we both really want to win’. With one round still to be contested, the battle for the championship promises to be intense, with Sexton determined to reclaim the title he won in 2023.

Chase Sexton was unstoppable in Denver’s AMA Supercross 450SX round, taking a commanding win after passing Cooper Webb early and pulling away.

The main event race started with Malcolm Stewart grabbing the holeshot, but Webb quickly took over the lead and was soon under threat from Sexton.

Sexton made an aggressive but clean move in the bowl turn before the finish and never looked back, stretching out a massive gap. Stewart held third for most of the race, fending off Shane McElrath and later Aaron Plessinger and Justin Cooper.

Plessinger eventually got around McElrath, only to be passed by Cooper as well. With two laps to go, Cooper moved into third, chased Webb hard, but couldn’t make a pass. On the final lap, Stewart nearly reclaimed third with a strong run through the whoops but fell just short.

Sexton won comfortably, with Webb, Cooper, Stewart, and Plessinger rounding out the top five.

Webb leads with 347 points, Sexton is second with 338 and Roczen is third with 271.

Chase Sexton is entering the final stretch of the 2025 AMA Supercross season in full force. The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider once again proved why he is one of the main contenders for the title by claiming a dominant victory at Round 14, held on the challenging MetLife Stadium track. The win — his fifth of the season — not only showcased his form with a lead that peaked at 18 seconds but also brought him within just nine points of the championship lead, with three rounds to go.

After setting the second-fastest time in qualifying and comfortably winning his Heat Race, the number 4 left no room for doubt in the Main Event. He grabbed the holeshot and never looked back, controlling the race clinically from start to finish. At the end, the American rider expressed his satisfaction with the consistency and connection he currently feels with his KTM 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION.

‘I felt really comfortable all day on the bike. I didn’t change anything, and that’s a sign that we’re in a good place. Every week we’ve been building, and now I feel truly connected to the bike. This Main Event was just about putting in fast lap after fast lap’, he explained in a statement.

The 24-year-old also underlined the importance of consistency and focus in these decisive final rounds: ‘I knew it was going to be a tough Main Event, but the goal was simple — keep the rhythm and avoid mistakes. We have three races left, we know what we have to do, and now it’s time to go out there and execute’.

As the championship battle heats up, Sexton has emerged as one of the top favorites for the crown, showing not only speed but also the kind of competitive maturity that could make all the difference in this final stretch.

In the 13th round of the AMA Supercross 450, held last weekend in Philadelphia, Chase Sexton secured an important victory to continue closing the gap on Cooper Webb, the championship leader, with only four races remaining in the season.

The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider secured a victory that could be highly decisive and brought him closer to Webb, which naturally made him very happy, especially with the return to victories that had not happened for a long time: ‘All I can do, really, is win from here on out, so was good! I haven’t won a normal Main Event since Anaheim 1, so that was a big focus for me, and I am happy to have been able to do that’.

Sexton then spoke about the race itself: ‘The track was tough, I came into the first turn with AP [Aaron Plessinger] in the Main Event and maybe cut him off a bit too much, and he went down, and I went way wide, so I had my work cut out for me. Overall though, the ride was really good for me. I felt the flow all day today, so that was nice’.

The KTM rider is currently on 266 points, a difference of 12 from Webb, who leads the overall standings.
