Haiden Deegan completely dominated the AMA 250MX on a day marked by extreme weather conditions that forced the interruption of the second main heat due to thunder and lightning at High Point Raceway.

First Moto: Display of Strength

Nate Thrasher grabbed the holeshot in the 250MX class, but Haiden Deegan quickly took command and led wire-to-wire. The Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki duo of Seth Hammaker and Levi Kitchen engaged in an intense battle for second place, with Kitchen getting the better of his teammate.

Jo Shimoda faced early difficulties after a crash, forcing a comeback from positions outside the top ten. Deegan controlled the race comfortably, securing a convincing victory, with Kitchen and Hammaker completing the podium.

Second Moto: Drama and Injuries

Deegan again took the lead in the second moto, forming a front trio with numbers 1, 10, and 16. Casey Cochran occupied fourth position, followed by Jo Shimoda.

Julien Beaumer suffered a serious crash on the jump before the mechanics’ area, ending his moto prematurely. Levi Kitchen found himself outside the top 15 after catching the rear wheel of a competitor.

Positions changed constantly, with Shimoda making several passes before a crash in the back section of the circuit cost him positions. Garrett Marchbanks stood out by passing teammates Kitchen and Hammaker, subsequently ascending to fourth position.

On the final lap, Chance Hymas suffered a crash that significantly altered the overall podium. The rider went straight to the Honda HRC Progressive truck, requiring assistance to move around, pointing to his right knee in visible pain.

Deegan secured a dominant victory with 1-1 results, followed by Tom Vialle (4-2) and Kitchen (2-6). Hymas, despite his final-lap crash, maintained fourth overall with 5-3 results.

Jett Lawrence secured overall victory in the 450MX class dominated the 250MX division on a day marked by extreme weather conditions that forced the interruption of the second main moto due to thunder and lightning at High Point Raceway.

Mt. Morris, Pennsylvania – High Point Raceway hosted a dramatic AMA Pro Motocross round, with adverse weather conditions decisively shaping the competition results.

First Moto Full of Plot Twists

Jett Lawrence grabbed the holeshot in the 450MX first moto, ahead of Aaron Plessinger, Eli Tomac, Justin Cooper, Jorge Prado, and Joey Savatgy. However, Cooper momentarily jumped into the lead coming down the rollers in a bold move that energised the crowd.

Lawrence quickly regained his position and began opening a gap, but a mechanical error on the start straight—apparently a stalled engine—cost him precious seconds. This setback allowed Plessinger to take the lead, sparking an eruption of enthusiasm from the grandstands, while Hunter Lawrence, Jett’s brother, moved into second place.

Jett Lawrence didn’t give up and managed to recover to second position behind his brother. Justin Cooper held fourth, followed by Eli Tomac. Jorge Prado faced significant technical difficulties during the race, losing ground in his battle with RJ Hampshire and dropping to 12th place, more than half a lap behind.

In the end, Jett Lawrence reclaimed the lead while Hunter Lawrence passed Plessinger in the closing moments. Cooper withstood pressure from Tomac to maintain fourth position, with Hampshire finishing sixth. Jason Anderson secured a solid seventh place, with Joey Savatgy, Cooper Webb, and Coty Schock completing the top ten.

Malcolm Stewart suffered a spectacular crash early in the race, taking a handlebar hit to the chin in a nasty incident that forced his retirement.

Second Moto Interrupted by Extreme Weather Conditions

The second moto brought meteorological drama when Eli Tomac jumped to the lead precisely as rain began falling. Tomac led ahead of Hunter Lawrence, Aaron Plessinger, and Justin Cooper, with Jett Lawrence in seventh place.

Conditions deteriorated rapidly. Plessinger was forced to discard his goggles due to rain, making a pit stop for replacement. The rain intensified progressively, alternating between lighter periods and torrential downpours.

The appearance of thunder and lightning in the vicinity of the circuit forced officials to stop the race with seven minutes remaining on the clock. Tomac was credited with the moto win, but combined results (1-3) gave Jett Lawrence the overall victory, followed by Hunter Lawrence (2-2) and Tomac (5-1) in third.

Moments after riders left the track, torrential rain began falling, validating the officials’ decision. This was the first race stopped due to weather conditions since the 2019 Thunder Valley National.

Last weekend, the MXGP of Latvia took place, and the highlights of the main category were Jeffrey Herlings, who took a double victory.

In the MX2 category, the victory was shared by Sacha Coenen, who took the first race, while in the second race the highlight was Kay de Wolf.

Herlings showed once again that when in good shape and physical condition, he is a real “terror” for the competition, and not even the championship leaders had the pace to beat the KTM rider.

As usual, the championship organizers have compiled a video of the best moments, which you can see in the video below:

Belgian KTM rider benefits from teammate’s crash on final lap to celebrate third career triumph

Sacha Coenen finally converted his impressive speed into a Grand Prix victory in 2025, claiming his third career triumph at the MXGP of Latvia in a race marked by final lap drama that cost Simon Längenfelder a victory that seemed guaranteed. The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Belgian rider dominated the weekend at Kegums, showing devastating pace that consistently placed him at the top of practice times.

The first moto set the tone for an exciting weekend, with Coenen securing another holeshot – his eighth of the season – ahead of Längenfelder, Liam Everts, and Kay de Wolf. Spanish rider Oriol Oliver created some initial confusion by overtaking both De Wolf and Mathis Valin on the first full lap, but a crash in a deep corner relegated him to eighth place. The highlight was local rider Karlis Reisulis, who thrilled Latvian fans with a brave overtake on Quentin Prugnières to take fifth place.

The race remained relatively stable until the final lap, when Camden McLellan broke Latvian hearts by overtaking Reisulis in front of the packed grandstands. Simultaneously, Kay de Wolf lost seventh position to Thibault Benistant also on the final lap, while Guillem Farres completed a good recovery to ninth place. Coenen controlled the race from start to finish, winning with a comfortable margin over Längenfelder.

In the second moto, Längenfelder secured the holeshot by the smallest margin over Coenen, but the German managed to create some initial advantage while an intense battle developed for the following positions between Benistant, Farres, De Wolf, and Everts. The decisive moment came when De Wolf managed to overtake Coenen for second place on lap 14, with just two minutes remaining, putting himself in an excellent position to fight for the overall victory.

The final drama arrived when Längenfelder, who was leading comfortably, got cross-rutted in the waves on his final lap through the track, going off-track and crashing into the grass. Despite managing to return to the race precisely when Coenen overtook him, the crash allowed De Wolf to claim his first moto victory since Lugo nearly a month ago. This incident cost Längenfelder the overall victory, but the German consoled himself with second overall and strengthening his championship lead to 27 points over Andrea Adamo.

Dutch KTM rider achieves perfect victory in Latvia with dominant double triumph

Jeffrey Herlings once again confirmed his absolute dominance at the Kegums circuit, claiming his ninth overall victory at this emblematic Latvian sand track in the eleventh round of the 2025 FIM Motocross World Championship. The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider completed a perfect weekend with two categorical triumphs, matching his best record at a single venue, as he also has nine victories at Valkenswaard in the Netherlands.

The first moto began with an intense battle between the KTM riders, with Lucas Coenen securing his eighth Fox Holeshot Award of the season, forcing Herlings to the inside of the first turn. This maneuver briefly allowed Romain Febvre to occupy second position, but “The Bullet” reacted immediately, cutting through the deep sand to overtake the Frenchman at the third corner. When Coenen made a small mistake at the next turn, Herlings capitalized with a double jump pass, a move that would prove decisive for the final result.

The drama intensified with Brian Bogers from Fantic making a spectacular pass on Febvre to take third place, while the championship leader found himself constantly frustrated in his attempts to progress. The situation became even more complicated for Febvre when he crashed at the second corner after the finish line on lap eleven, dropping to seventh place behind Ben Watson. Subsequently, a brilliant move by Glenn Coldenhoff over his Fantic teammate Bogers and an impressive overtake by Ruben Fernandez with a long jump in front of the fans shaped the final classification.

Coenen remained close to Herlings throughout, getting within one second of the leader and nearly taking the lead when the Dutchman missed an inside line in a left-hand corner. However, Herlings managed to resist the pressure and won with a 1.3-second margin over the young Belgian, while Coldenhoff completed the podium 56 seconds behind the leaders. This 16th race victory at Kegums elevated Herlings to ninth place in the championship, overtaking Jeremy Seewer.

In the second moto, despite Coenen again securing the holeshot, Herlings immediately demonstrated his class by regaining the lead at the second corner and building an advantage he maintained until the end. With faster track conditions due to the sun drying the circuit, the race provided several exciting battles, but no rider could seriously threaten the supremacy of the “King of Kegums,” who recorded his 109th Grand Prix victory of his career.

Yamaha rider claims dominant 1-1 finish at Thunder Valley after missing second moto at previous round

Chance Hymas staged a triumphant return to AMA Pro Motocross in the 250 class, securing a dominant 1-1 victory at Thunder Valley Motocross Park in Colorado. The Yamaha rider, who was unable to participate in the second moto of the previous round due to food poisoning, showed he was fully recovered by setting a devastating pace in both motos.

In the first 250 class moto, Hymas grabbed the holeshot ahead of Tom Vialle, Haiden Deegan, and Mikkel Haarup. The Yamaha rider quickly opened a two-second lead at the front, while Deegan passed Vialle with a power move on the outside in the mechanics’ area. Vialle’s race became complicated when he was passed by both Haarup and Ty Masterpool, dropping from second to fourth place in just a few sections.

Hymas benefited from a mistake by Deegan that allowed him to extend his lead to over five seconds, and when his main rival began experiencing overheating issues with his YZ250F, the team advised Deegan to ease up and be gentle with the clutch. This situation allowed Hymas to open a crushing 34-second lead with three laps to go, crossing the finish line with a final margin of 45.677 seconds over Deegan – the largest gap recorded in any SMX race this season.

Garrett Marchbanks delivered an excellent recovery to finish third in the first moto after a poor start, nearly catching Deegan in the final meters. In the second moto, Hymas again grabbed the holeshot and controlled the race from start to finish, benefiting from a small tip-over by Deegan that gave him the space needed to manage his advantage to the checkered flag.

The overall 250 class podium was completed with Hymas in first position, Deegan in second, and Levi Kitchen in third, who benefited from his battle with Jo Shimoda for the final podium spot in the second moto. With this result, Hymas demonstrated that his health issue from the previous round is definitively behind him and that he remains one of the main title contenders in the 250 class.

Jett Lawrence claims another 1-1 finish in 450 class at AMA Pro Motocross

Jett Lawrence once again confirmed his supremacy in the 450 class of AMA Pro Motocross, securing his fourth victory in five races this season at Thunder Valley Motocross Park in Colorado. The Australian rider showed tremendous determination as he withstood pressure from competitors throughout the first moto in one of the most exciting battles of the season.

In the first moto, Hunter Lawrence, Aaron Plessinger, Jett Lawrence, Eli Tomac, and Justin Cooper were the first five riders through the opening turns. Jett Lawrence quickly took the lead, but the top four maintained an intense battle throughout the entire race. Midway through the moto, Jett had built a three-second lead and appeared to be pulling away, but Plessinger held a comfortable second place until he came under pressure from Hunter Lawrence.

The drama intensified when Hunter Lawrence passed Plessinger and went after his younger brother for the lead. Jett managed to resist his older brother’s charge, but suddenly Plessinger came from nowhere and briefly took the race lead. However, Jett Lawrence quickly regained first place and managed to create breathing room only on the final lap, securing the moto victory with a 3.3-second margin over Plessinger, who finished second.

Eli Tomac completed the first moto podium in third place, benefiting from Hunter Lawrence’s spectacular crash on the final lap while running alone in third position. This was the first time we saw Jett Lawrence having to battle for an entire moto, get passed, fight back for the lead, slow down, hit the gas again, and get enough breathing room to take the race win.

In the second moto, Jett Lawrence again showed his class by claiming another victory, thus securing his 18th win in 19 career starts. With this perfect 1-1 result, Jett Lawrence climbed to the top step of the overall podium, followed by Eli Tomac and Aaron Plessinger, while Justin Cooper and Hunter Lawrence completed the overall top five.
