J.J. Spaun’s meteoric rise to golf stardom has sent shockwaves through the PGA Tour, leaving Bryson DeChambeau in the dust as he secures his spot on the United States Ryder Cup team. Spaun’s remarkable U.S. Open victory at Oakmont, where he overcame a five-shot deficit with a spectacular comeback, has not only catapulted him to eighth in the Official World Golf Rankings but has also surpassed DeChambeau by a staggering 1,800 Ryder Cup points.

With DeChambeau now trailing behind Spaun and his next opportunity to gain points at The Open Championship seeming uncertain, it appears that Spaun’s stellar performance has solidified his standing in the rankings. Even Ryder Cup Captain Keegan Bradley couldn’t contain his admiration for Spaun, hailing him as a deserving champion and a potential fan favorite at the upcoming Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black.

In a surprising turn of events, Bradley extended an invitation to LIV Golfers Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka to a Ryder Cup dinner, emphasizing the importance of assembling the strongest team possible regardless of tour affiliations. DeChambeau, honored by the invitation, expressed eagerness to contribute, while Koepka faces a tougher path to securing a spot on the team.
